Pricing on Microsoft's First Windows 8 Tablet Surface

Finally! After months of speculation, starting back in June when Microsoft announced the existence of its new Windows 8 tablet the Microsoft Surface, we have been given a release date and pricing structure. Bizarre to me that it took over four months for us to get these critical details, but nonetheless they are finally here.

At launch the Surface will come in two storage sizes 32GB and 64GB. The 32GB without its handy touch keyboard cover is going to set you back $499. Just as a point of reference this is the same price listed for The New iPad's 16GB model. The 32GB with the touch Keyboard case is gonna set you back $599, and the 64GB with case is priced at $699.

If you intend on getting any color other than black, based on what I have seen on the website, you would have to buy the 32GB without case, and tack on a color of your choosing for an extra $120. Seems they are valuing the black case at $100, but you are going to need an extra $20 if you want the glitz and glam of its other colors. For those who want the top of the top as of right now according to the website you are going to have to buy the 64GB with black case for $699 and then spend another $120 on a second keyboard bringing the total up to $819.... I'm not sure if Microsoft is asleep at the wheel on this one or if this is simply growing pains due to launch being pushed ahead, but definitely a huge oversight, and is something that leaves even a Surface enthusiast like me scratching his head.

All that said the official launch of this much anticipated tablet is very close. With preorder expect this beautiful piece of computing machinery on your doorstep or in your not so local Microsoft Store on 10/26/2012. Many have tried to dawn the title of iPad killer, will this be the one???
